Starkville, Mississippi — October 17, 2017 — Thomasson Company CEO and Board Chairman Pat Thomasson served as this year’s guest speaker for Mississippi State University’s annual Carlton N. Owen Lecture Series.
Ms. Thomasson led the public program held Tuesday, October 17, 2017 in the College of Forest Resources Franklin Center on campus. Her presentation was titled, “Assets in the Wood Industry: Planting for the Future.”
The Owen Lecture Series was established nearly two decades ago in the College of Forest Resources by the Greenville, South Carolina, resident and 1974 MSU graduate for whom it is named. The program focuses on natural resource conservation issues.
Ms. Thomasson is past president of the Mississippi Lumber Manufacturers Association, the first woman to serve in that capacity, and was named Mississippi’s 2014 Business Woman of the Year by the Mississippi Business Journal. That same year, she was recognized for exceptional service and industry impact by the Women’s Business Enterprise Council (WBEC) South.
Prior to joining the family business in 1996 Ms. Thomasson held positions with Arthur Andersen in New Orleans and the Mississippi Secretary of State’s Security Division. She holds bachelor’s and master’s accounting degrees from the University of Mississippi.
