MLMA Elects 2010 Officers; Thomasson elected President

Pat Thomasson, Thomasson Company, Philadelphia MS, was elected President of the Mississippi Lumber Manufacturers Association during its Annual Meeting February 5th. Thomasson is the first female to achieve this position. Her father, Hugh Thomasson (deceased) served as president in 1969. Thomasson Company manufactures and sells pressure treated poles, piling and other wood products for domestic and export markets.

MLMA, organized in 1954, represents pine and hardwood sawmills in Mississippi and Associate Members comprised of companies throughout the country who support the sawmill industry. Objectives of the association include To provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and industry contacts through MLMA meetings and trade shows; To give Mississippi lumber producers a unified voice in addressing matters of importance to the industry though government affairs activities To emphasize the importance of the lumber and wood products industry to the economy of the state. Other officers elected are Vice President Glenn Lott, Hood Industries, Inc., Waynesboro MS and Secretary/Treasurer Doug Stroud, Southern Lumber Co., Jackson. Sylvia Napper is Executive Director for the Association.
